Brief about NG Cares Covid-19 Grants for Venerable Nigerians

As part of the Buhari Administration’s plan to take 100 million Nigerians out of poverty in ten years, the World Bank supported COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus also known as NG-CARES, will also leverage on existing job creation, wealth creation and poverty reduction programmes at the community level.

These include programmes such as State Cash Transfer Units, Agriculture Development Agencies, Job Creation Unit/MSE Support Units supported by the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP) of the Administration.

NG-CARES- is a multi-sectoral programme, which in addition to the ongoing implementation of the Economic Sustainability Plan (ESP), is a furtherance of the Federal Government’s response to the socio-economic fallouts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Noting that the programme will build on diverse and extensive interventions by the Federal Government, Prof. Osinbajo stated that the “NG-CARES programme is designed to support vulnerable and poor Nigerians, provide immediate emergency relief to smallholder farmers and SMEs that were adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.”

In order to support the initiative, the World Bank is the major supporter to the Federal Government of Nigeria, as they are using a grant known as the ‘World Bank Grant’ of seven hundred and fifty million US Dollars ($750,000,000) to immediately assist affected Nigerians who falls under the following categories;

Small holders’ farmers affected by Covid19
Small and Medium Enterprise (SMEs) affected by Covid19

Each States of the Federation will be given twenty million US Dollars ($20,000,000) for two years, apart from the FCT that will receive fifteen million US Dollars ($15,000,000), while another fifteen million US Dollars ($15,000,000) will go to the Federal Care support.

Targeted Business in Nigeria for NG Cares Covid-19 Grants

Micro Businesses: Any micro business that wishes to be a beneficiary must have at least three to nine (3–9) employees/workers.
Small Businesses: Any small scale business that would want to benefit from NG CARES must have at least ten to fifty (10–50) employees/workers.

Requirements for 2022/2023 NG Cares Covid-19 Grants

Applicant’s BVN printout which must be stamped by the applicants bank,
Interested Applicant’s proof of Business Operations i.e Cash book, bank statement of account, etc,
CAC registration or TIN (To find out business ownership),
Interested Applicant’s evidence of accurate age (using Either Voters Card, NIN, or Driver’s license),
Interested Applicant’s means of Identification (Voters Card, NIN, or Driver’s license),
Interested Applicant’s means to confirm residence (Voter’s card or utility bill).
