The Mitchell Center Graduate Fellowship will provide for the graduate student’s tuition and annual stipend during the 2023-2024 academic year.
Recipients are expected to organize and lead the monthly Mitchell Center Graduate Student Workshop in which graduate students from Penn and other universities present their scholarship. Recipients are also expected to attend, contribute to, and assist with other Mitchell Center events throughout 2023-2024.
Funding for these fellowships is provided, in part, by the generous support of the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and the Mary and David Boies Family Fund.
Requirements for Mitchell Center Graduate Fellowship 2023 at University of Pennsylvania
- CV
- Dissertation Research Statement. A description of your dissertation’s aim, current status, and further research plan, not to exceed five double-spaced pages (excluding any notes or references)
- Event Proposals. A brief paragraph discussing your ideas for events the Mitchell Center might hold during your tenure as a graduate fellow. In recent years, graduate fellows have organized (usually online) events with outside speakers. For example, last year graduate fellows organized and moderated events on ongoing political developments in India and Myanmar (details here) and the question of white privilege (details here).
- Transcript. An official or unofficial copy.
- Letter of Endorsement. A letter from your Dissertation Supervisor.
