The main selection criteria is the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) with credit passes in Teaching Practice and the Teaching Subjects, and not earned earlier than 2014, with specialization in any of the following subjects:

1. English Language
2. Mathematics
3. Integrated Science
4. Biology, Chemistry and Physics
5. Agricultural Science
6. Home Economics
7. Computer Science
8. Technical/Technology Education
9. Computer Science or Information Technology
10. Nigerian Languages
11. Physical and Health Education
