FG Can Not Afford 300 Billion Naira N-Power Beneficiaries Demands Rhoda Iliya It is no longer a new story in the Npower world as regards the case the Federal Government on Friday, 24th July, 2020 which said N -Power Batch A and B beneficiaries were demanding a cumulative grant of N300 billion .
The Humanitarian Affairs ministry of the Federal Government however made it clear to the beneficiaries of the scheme that the federal government could not afford to make such amount of money requested available as grant to them.
Adding to their words, the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs , Disaster Management and Social Development Board said it observed that there was a rally and protest as well at the National Assembly on Thursday by some N -Power Batch A and B beneficiaries .

The Board had said the rally later proceeded to the Federal Secretariat Complex in Abuja , as the protesters involved in the rally claimed to be representatives of the numerous Federal Government’ s NPower beneficiaries who were about to be exited and disengaged.
Deputy Director for the Humanitarian Affairs and Social Development Board , in Press, Rhoda Iliya, then said in a statement issued in a meeting held in Abuja on Friday that the protesters also angrily requested the Federal Government to employ all the 500,000 NPower beneficiaries as well as pay them a grant of N600,000 each .

In her words, she said“ The ministry wishes to state that this demand was not part of the agreement of engagement they signed with the Federal Government, which clearly stipulated that they will be exited after two years.
“ Furthermore , the government cannot afford the N300 billion they were asking for as grant. ” she added
The Humanitarian Affairs and Social Development ministry said it was note worthy to state that the Federal Government had done its best in the expansion of hundreds of billions on N Power beneficiaries during the last four years since it begun the scheme.

The Board had further more stated that the ministry was currently liaising with the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation of Nigeria , which is the agency responsible for the payment of N- Power beneficiaries’ stipends, to ensure that any outstanding legitimate claim as regards the Batch A and B beneficiaries stipends was settled.
They also insisted that the Federal Government could not afford to continue to pay the soon to be exited and disengaged N- Power beneficiaries stipends indefinitely, adding to the fact that the process of engagement of new Batch C beneficiaries had already commenced fully.

The Humanitarian Affairs and Social Development ministry argued that even though it was not a lending faciity or agency , it had started contacting other ministries , departments and agencies in thee country such as the Central Bank of Nigeria to see if the exited and disengaged beneficiaries could key into their empowerment programmes and stop the protesting Beneficiaries.

  1. I just wanna ask if Bach C will do exam and I have never receive mail to confirm my registration up till now.Hope there is no problem.

  2. We should be understood by the minister of disaster that our demands are clear and without ambiguity:here are our demands: (1)permanent and pensionable jobs to all beneficiaries or
    (2)a tangible exit package or(3)we continue with baba buhari till 2023
    This means that the government can choose any one of the above as settlement for us for the job well-done
