ASUU has Finally embarked on a two weeks warning strike

Asuu The Academic Staff Union of Universities took a drastic decision on Monday by declaring a two week warning strike action to protest the non payment of salaries of lecturers who did not enroll in the Federal Government Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System Known as IPPIS

The National President of the Asuu Mr Biodun Ogunyemi made the announcement after ASUU National Executive Council meeting which held in Enugu some few hours ago.

NEC decided to go on a two weeks warning strike action which kick-started today being Monday 9th of March 2020, to force the Buhari Government to implement the agreement and resolution, Earlier agreed upon by both parties during their previous encounters.

According to Biodun Ogunyemi, the strike action was to force the government to Kick start and to respect the agreement and resolution of Memorandum of Action it had with the union from previous years 2009 to 2019.

How long is the Asuu strike going to Last

This is a Warning strike, and According to Asuu it will last for about two weeks, and after two week and nothing is being done to pay those Lecturers being owed by the Government then they will embark on an indefinite strike, till they needs is being met.

So from today Till in two weeks time the Universities across the federation will remain shutdown, Asuu is not in Support of the IPPIS System, so that is exactly what the group is fighting against, Asuu is fighting so that the federal government will not implement the IPPIS system in their payment system.

IPPIS was born in order to checkmate Lecturers and the federal government has equally gone tough by insisting that any Lecturer who refuses to Register with IPPIS system will not be paid, According to our findings some Lecturers across the federation have registered and have been paid while some do not want to register and they have not been paid, And those have not registered are fighting to Abolish the IPPIS payment system from Asuu members.
